we offered him a 7 year deal that would have extended him through the end of the 2022 season. Geez could you imagine that albatross right now?
This team has been incredibly lucky. The long-term deals we signed (Zimmerman, Scherzer, Werth) have worked out well, while the ones that the players declined (Desmond, JZ, Harper) would have crippled this franchise.
