Tiafoe into the quarterfinals. Kid is good. Not sure he can beat Nadal who is next.

Well Tiafoe didn’t make it to the next round. Straight set loss to Nadal. An unseeded American woman, Danielle Collins, made it to the semis. She was NCAA champ at UVA

I don't give a single crap about tennis, but I've never liked Federer for some strange reason.  Good outcome as far as I'm concerned ..

That was a good match. I’m surprised Townsend came back to win after dropping the two match points.

I'm not much of a tennis guy (used to be in the 70s  ...  I didn't even know who Halep was  :-[ ) but that was as fine a match as I can recall.    Like you, I didn't think Townsend was gonna pull it off.    She had that lead in the 2nd set and I thought she was gonna end it.     I thought maybe the moment got too big for her.

Interesting story. Has been toiling in the lesser tours for years. Won again today but Dad wants her to retire and get that corporate job.
