Isn’t there a tsunami on the way there?

nope, just gentle breezes, the sounds of Jimmy Buffet....and unfortunately work.  I'm at a small conference.

72 in the keys today. No complaints.

80 in St John, USVI. Rum punches on the beach. Don’t understand the problem.

There's a joke there about Scouting and shared bodily warmth.  But I won't go there...  :P

Spent 35 years of my life in Fairfax County....

Gave up trying to make sense of their decisions.

191 mph wind gust on Mauna Kea

https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2019/02/07/first-alert-forecast-heads-up-what-could-be-windy-stormy-weekend/
pssshhhh.  At Mount Washington, it's hit 231 MPH in 1934, and that isn't even the record anymore.  253 MPH on Barrow Island in 1996 (Cyclone Olivia).

Snow is only about 5" or more, but they are also saying 1/4" of ICE.  That will be enough to pretty much shut down the region and cause massive power outages.   That's the mother of all ice storms.

and this why I want to get rid of ICE and restore SALT.

Coming back Thursday evening. Please have it gone by then.

Have a trip to Chicago in early March. Crossing the fingers for that one.

I'm reasonably confident I won't have to bother coming into work tomorrow. This storm is almost perfectly timed to disrupt the morning commute on Wednesday, Feb 20 and I think that is one factor GSA takes into consideration when deciding whether or not to shut down the government.

current forecast shows 2-4" for most of the D.C. area, Wed morning, then changing over to freezing rain/sleet in the afternoon, then rain in the evening into Thursday so the airports should be fine Thursday

Right now Thursday has a low of 37 and a high of 49 on my weather app- if that holds, this will only be a one day thing

Thanks. I will be driving so rain is better than snow. Coming through SW VA tonight. Looks like rain, snow and ice there.

OPM. Not GSA.
