Local guy.    He was a character:

72 is pretty young in this day and age. What did he die from?

Not sure.    I couldn't find anything in the main media stories.

That he was. I had not heard much from him in the last 10 years. That could be my changing listening habits, though.

Back in the 80s, I'd listen to him, Derrick McGinty and then Kojo Nnamdi on the DC Politics Hour on Fridays (IIRC).     That could turn into a slug fest.      Plotkin took no prisoners.

Articles indicate he was fired (banned) from local radio about 10 years ago.

EDIT:     Later update from the POST:

"His friend and former colleague Mark Segraves, a reporter at WRC (Channel 4), said that Mr. Plotkin “had been ill for some time” but did not provide further details. D.C. police, who found Mr. Plotkin at his home Sunday after receiving a welfare call, said no foul play is suspected. A spokeswoman with the medical examiner’s office, Beverly Fields, said the cause and manner of death had not yet been determined."

I was a big fan as a youngster:

Howard “Hopalong” Cassady, who won the 1955 Heisman Trophy at Ohio State, led the Buckeyes to the national championship in his junior year and played in the National Football League, died Sept. 20 in Tampa. He was 85.

White Room is one of my favorite drum and bass driven tunes.    What a character.

spoke at work a few years ago. Told a joke about how he sometimes folks come up, want to get pictures with him, give him respect, then say "It is an honor to meet you, Representative Lewis."

I was kind of stunned that he was only 68.      I thought he was closer to Lewis, Hoyer and Pelosi.

I also thought he was mid to late 70’s. But he’d had a hard life and myriad health issues, all of which can age a person.

I've seen a few videos of him (since his passing) with a walker and folks helping him move about.      When he was at the podium or even talking to the people during the riots, his demeanor wasn't that of a man with health "issues".     Indeed, health issues can slow ya down.    Rest in Peace, Mr. Chairman.
