Alice Rivlin is basically a goddess for government budget geeks. CBO head. OMB director. Federal Reserve Bank. Holy moly.

She was also Assistant HHS Secretary for Planning and Eval  back in the 60s. Don’t think there were many women at that high a level in those days.

OT   One of the things I dislike about social media is the tendency for people to "attack" (usually anonymously) any point another may post.    I try to stay away from any semblance of that, unless it's VaRK or Natsinpwc.           It makes me break out.

I meant my birth.            Though I was working part time in '65, it wasn't as a Fed.    I wasn't drafted til later.

You are correct. Looked it up. Education was established October 1979.

no. There was a Nixon EO, something called executive reorg #3, which is not to be confused with either Funk #49 or Mambo #5. It took a little bit from several departments, including some radiation authority from the AEC and some water authority from the army corps. Air quality programs may have been HEW.

I.M. Pei, an American modernist architect regarded as one of the world’s leading designers of civic centers and cultural institutions, including the National Gallery of Art’s East Building, the glass pyramid at the entrance to the Louvre in Paris and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, died May 16 at a hospital in Manhattan.     He was 102.
