Terrible Ted Lindsay. He used to do color commentary on the national TV games for a while.

This makes me sad.

Never watched that show. 52 is way too young.

I watched it college every week with a bunch of girls in my dorm.   He also had a good role in HBO's OZ until they cemented him into a wall.

Thanks Blue, you saved me the work of looking that stuff up.  Not that I knew anything about it (except the amazing song) but heard a piece on NPR headed home tonight talking about it.  A form of genius to see in that Mediterranean folk music such a better way to play it.

Scott Walker of the Walker Brothers dies at 76.

Walker first rose to game as the frontman of the Walker Brothers with hits like  “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Any More.” He began releasing solo albums in 1967 in a baroque, orchestral style that has influenced countless artists in the years since. Walker’s success was largely in the United Kingdom, where his first three solo albums reached the top ten. He lived in the UK from 1965 and became a British citizen in 1970.

For those who cannot get past the Washington Nationals' Opening Day loss in 2019:

Hmmm,  I was at the Air Force Monument on Sunday and saw Doolittle's name on the Wall of Honor.     Hard to believe they're all gone.

I can't believe that people, especially from that era, live over a 100.  Those guys accomplished quite a feat and gave the country a much needed boost in morale.

IIRC, the participants had a custom in which every year they'd get together and drink a toast to the raiders.  Each raider had his own glass, and each year they would turn over the glass of anyone who was no longer alive.  They stopped doing the get togethers a few years ago as declining health of the raiders made it too difficult for the annual reunion.

update: here's a story about the annual reunion:
https://www.history.com/news/one-final-toast-for-the-doolittle-raiders. the final toast was in 2013.  Their invidual goblets are housed at the USAF Museum in Dayton (which is a 'must visit' museum if you are a history buff IMHO).
