What about Trenton? Closer than Rochester and good facilities from my understanding.

MASN article speculates Richmond as a possibility.   It's too bad no one wants to pay for a stadium.   Lots of Nats fans here would flock to games, Nats would build on their fanbase here, and very close to DC.    It would have been way better for the city than the Redskins training camp.

Trenton would welcome anyone with open arms:  https://twitter.com/RPimpsner/status/1326585087471874048

The Yankees were very unhappy with the facilities and field conditions though.

Trenton's facilities are highly rated:

https://www.milb.com/trenton/ballpark/rentals

http://ballparkreviews.com/template2.php?in_name=Arm%20and%20Hammer%20Park&in_city=Trenton&in_state=New%20Jersey

Was going by this, stating the Yankees were unhappy with the field and pitching mound, though it says that was addressed prior to the 2020 season that didn't happen:  https://www.nj.com/yankees/2020/09/somerset-patriots-in-trenton-thunder-out-yankees-considering-class-aa-affiliation-change.html  (I had to plug the article into outline.com to read...).

Also some talk about a cramped clubhouse:  https://theathletic.com/2190366/2020/11/10/yankees-minor-league-teams-farm-system/  Though the Yankees were possibly just using that as an excuse, after the fact, after they made the decision to leave.  And clubhouses can be improved (and most probably will have to be to meet new standards).

Baltimore would also be acceptable.

Thanks. Yeah, it sounds like an excuse. Hope Trenton gets a good affiliation deal.

Sounds perfect for the Nats

Hope they still move towards something with better weather in spring and closer like Richmond

Their stadium should meet AAA standards.

Maybe the cheap ass Lerners could kick in some for a stadium?

perhaps they'll send minor leaguers to work construction?

They got a free stadium from DC.  Time to pay it forward.

From what I heard from a buddy who lives in Richmond, the city doesn't want another stadium.  Not sure about the possibility of renovating the current one.

Mitlen and Spider, unless they object.  We can take a vote on it.

According to Byron Kerr (@masnkerr), the Nats are moving their AAA affiliation to Rochester. Recently made available with the Twins AAA partnership with St. Paul

It's time to give up the ghost on Richmond as a possible AAA locale for the Nats. State budgets are shot because of covid shutdowns so they don't have money to spend on stadiums.  Likewise for team owners but even back in the heyday they have an unwritten rule amongst themselves that they don't pay for stadiums anymore. If one owner did then every city would point to them as an example and they can't have that.  Rochester is a lot closer than Fresno so be happy with that.
