Our #10 prospect profiles as a fourth outfielder. Yikes.

The dude might be a steal as a fifth round pick.

.294   .411   .704 last year at Low-A ball (and 4HRs in 31 games).

Someone needs to create a FTP for him ;). He might have potential as an Eaton replacement in a few years.

“7 of the 22 players on this list have had UCL reconstruction”

That doesn’t sound great. Or maybe the Nats Docs understand TJ surgery better than anyone.

Uh ..... that's not terrible at all.

Braves have a great farm system, and their number ten prospect profiles as a middle reliever.

Everyone expects all their prospects to be starters. Just not the way it works out. Wilmer Difo and Andrew Stevenson have both been in the Nationals Top 10 before.

MLB.com says the Nats have 2 of the top 10 SS prospects in Kieboom and Garcia.

If the Nats get a full season out of Eaton, they win that trade

Good because they look like they are losing the luzardo trade.

Meh. TINSTAAPP.

Until I see a guy do it in the majors for 180+ innings, I don't believe he's real. Fangraphs' top 2017 pitching prospects were Alex Reyes, Anderson Espinoza, Yadier Alvarez, Frances Martes, and Lucas Giolito.

What do they all have in common?

TINSTAAPP.

This. We are three years away from finding out if Rizzo "lost" the Luzardo trade. And had Dusty Baker not been a complete bafoon with the pen in 2017, there is never a question about who won that trade.

Didn't the other half of that trade have an ERA under 1, finish 6th in Cy Young Voting and become a key cog in his team's playoff run?

I mean he likely wasn't going to do that in DC, but if you just compare Doolittle and Trienen up to this point any objective analysis says we lost that trade. And Madson was somehow bad enough to ruin TWO team's seasons. It could change, though, which is why that post said "losing" instead of "lost"

Luzardo is gravy.

Then its a win-win isn't it? We traded a pitcher who was unlikely to pitch well for 2 pitchers who did pitch well. It doesn't really matter how Treinen did in Oakland if you don't believe he could have done it here.

Definition of a change of scenery trade.

I sometimes think change of scenery, but sometimes I think bad coaching.  Is it not a fleecing if you trade away guys who flourish in other places? The Nats seem to do that with pitchers quite a bit, Giolito notwithstanding.

Huh? We develop good young pitchers, and good young pitchers are in demand for trades for established veterans. We make those trades a lot because we've been in contention for like 7 years.

Look, you can nitpick individual transactions all you want.

In the grand scheme of things, is it a good or a bad thing that we took a 7th round draft pick, acquired him via trade as a throw in, developed him into a good young pitcher, and traded him for a couple all-star level relief pitchers for a stretch run?

Treinen was not a failure of our development team. He was a resounding success. We polished a lump of coal into a diamond and traded it for cash money. Then someone else recut him into a higher quality diamond.

Good for him! Good for them! Good for us!

Treinen was never a diamond here. He was middle relief

People underrate his time here. He had a 2.91 ERA over 185 IP in his first three years, before falling apart that last year. He was a good RP for us for the most part, just nothing like he was in Oakland.

Using ERA to rate a relief pitcher?
