Philly is crazy for not going after Keuchel given their #3 starter is Pivetta.

He looks more and more like Doug Fister. Good idea to not buy in.

That's good.  I thought he over-used our pitchers early last year, and it led to issues mid season.

Wonder if Ross/Hellickson will take a bullpen assignment.

There was an interview with Ross on the Saturday MASN game where he said he was definitely willing and sounded like he thought that was where he was going to start the year.

I hope that's not a problem for his elbow. He's a pretty good pitcher. I gotta believe that if he's not in the Nats starting plans, they could move him for relief.

Would be interesting if every once in a while, we could go with a 6 man rotation

Is that hard to plan with one of your starters in the pen? Serious question. I don't know if that's how it's done.

In the old days, with a 4-man rotation, it was common for a guy to pitch a couple innings relief between starts  (on what otherwise, as in this day and age, would be his bullpen day).   If they could do that with 4-man, surely they could do it with 5-or 6-man.

Zuck reports the Nats will use a four man rotation for the first three weeks due to having 3 off days. Hellickson to pitch out of the pen.

The boys spiced his jock strap with icy-hot...

Not sure what sort of clubhouse presence Stras has...Ean mentioned, in what I think was a Kolko interview, that in the years they were together, he probably hand't exchanged a dozen words with him.

Oh crap !!!

I've experienced that.  It's not fun.  :-[

As for his sourpuss demeanor, pitchers are kinda weird.  Best leave them alone, ya know ?

He's mellowed some as he's gotten older though, don't you think ?  Granted, He was a tight-ass when he first came to DC...

Max started sliding the last 6 weeks of the 2018 season and it looks like he’s still in that rut. He’s wracking up the K’s but he’s also getting shelled. Is this his new norm?

MOst likely.

Tried telling you people this was coming, but nobody wanted to listen. Scherzer ain't the guy he was two years ago, when every time he took the mound, he might throw a no-no. He's come back down to his pre-Cy Young form.

Strasburg is a much more stressing situation. Dude is grooving fastballs to hitters at 93 mph. I was really hoping to get one more year before his arm imploded. At this point, I think they need to try him out of the pen and see if he can get back to 96. Would solve the bullpen issues and we could trade for Bumgarner or another starter.

No thanks. He and Hellickson are basically the same. Tanner costs 10 million. Hellickson costs 1.3 million.
