Probably true. Maybe just 2B. It’s a pipe dream he’s probably OF for life.

That's completely okay given that hes a top 3 defender in the OF

lots of interesting names non-tendered.  Yangearvis Solarte.  I mean, you don't get a much more interesting name than that.

Arquimedes Caminero is out there as well.  Bad year in Japan in '18, but he's been decent in the majors.

Not clear if they are also shipping Carlos Santana to Seattle. That would be a coup for the Phillies to unload that salary and free up 1B for Hoskins.

Looks like Segura and Swarzak to Philly. Santana and Crawford to Seattle. I would assume maybe a minor leaguer to Seattle also?

The NL East is going to be a whole lot more interesting next season.  Everyone but the Marlins is all-in right now.

I’m sure many teams are discussing many trades with many other teams. I don’t get excited until at least two sources say talks are serious.

Goldschmidt to the Cards. Wow

AZ gets Luke Weaver, catcher Carson Kelly, infielder Andrew Young and a 2019 Competitive Balance Round B draft pick.

In other news, Bob Carpenter has changed his dog's name to "Goldschmidt."

I bet Arizona turns around and flips Andrew Young to Atlanta (or the UN).

I kind of like this contract.  I think he could have gotten a higher AAV, but I don't think he could have gotten 4 years elsewhere.

Luis Valbuena died in a car crash.
and Jose Castillo, who played  for the Pirates.  Two survivors - Carlos Rivero, who was in the Red Sox system, and the chauffeur.  In Venezuela.  Winter ball teammates. Apparently, the car either hit a rock or swerved to avoid one and then went off the road.

How many baseball players have died in car accidents in Venezuela.

There were 877 players on opening day rosters last year. There are another 6,500 minor leaguers. Statistically, a few death per year are going to happen

I thought it was Venezuela that had a lot of traffic deaths. It’s actualy the Dominican Republic. It’s way out of proportion to what would be expected.

Minor issue to quibble, but how did you come up with 877?  Do opening day rosters include DL players under contract?
