With so many discrete plays, there's an unlimited amount of possible bets.  1st pitch strikes, batting around the order, GIDPs, etc...  Season, game, inning, PA  . . .

True, however from what I read the market for those types of bets is so small that it's doubtful that many will be available.

Prop bets are about the only kind that make sense in stadium

I suppose, but I could definitely see those types of bets, nationwide, on the playoffs or maybe even a Sunday night game when there's a focused audience.

Baseball's initial spectator interest was due to it being a great gambling game.  People bet on everything.

Sure, big games will have more betting options, although probably not much different than what was offered in Vegas for the World Series last week. For the fourth inning of a Tuesday night Nats vs Marlins game how many people will be looking to place a bet at any given casino? Say MGM has 200-300 betters browsing the options, if they offer 20 different prop options or just two they will probably get about the same number of bets so why make it too complicated.

You can’t take beer into the park, you can take a phone into the park

You can also bring food. A couple people I went with brought full on Jimmy Johns sandwiches through security and no one batted an eye.

You can bring in food for yourself. A sammich, snacks, etc. And water. But no other drinks. We do it sometimes.

I was shocked when I found out about the food. I intend to do that from now on. No more spending $40 on food and beverages.

Who is going to pay the house more to bet through a team venue?

And then there will be Peter Angelos standing there to demand his cut or else he will sue

The Nats TV situation is so screwed, maybe sports books will level the field. They just need to be first to market in the area.

My guess is that the Nats will partner with MGM so it will be a tie. Other than that, MGM has no casinos in the city and Maryland isn't moving to legalize sports betting.

MGM and MLB are now partners, MLB will promote betting on games on all of their platforms. Slow pace of play is now seen as a good thing, allowing bets to be placed between innings. Manford said that he does not expect betting windows to be open at the ballpark in London during the games in England next summer, indicating that the league might not allow casinos to operate in MLB ballparks.

No new news on the bill being considered in DC but legalized sports betting is now being proposed in Virginia. I'm a little suspicious of this move coming out of Richmond because while it seems highly unlikely that VA will legalize betting it does put pressure on the District to fast track their bill.

Leonsis and the Lerners wanted a five block buffer where only they can offer betting, the city is likely giving them two. It's coming very soon, only the details left to work out.

Why on earth is the city giving them something valuable without extracting anything in return?
