There's a spot just past the SW Freeway on NJ where ya take the steps down to 1st ST SE.    Garfield Park has a lot of space.

This is just the pre-game tour.    We gotta get up to the Loft for the Banner.    Then I gotta meet Spider so we can get to our seats.

bryce would have signed with them by now if the phillies had offered him a "stupid" money contract.  hasn't it been like two weeks since they flew out to vegas?

Could still be stupid money. They are just in search of some kore of it. I think they know hitters don’t need six weeks of spring training and ready to squeeze every penny they can.

It's funny how fans think this is Bryce and Boras doing a lot more than what any free agent does.  It's because it's highly publicized.  A lot of unsigned guys out there aren't unsigned because the phone simply hasn't rang.  Think Kimbrel, Keuchel, etc are just looking for a job?  No, on MUCH less publicized scale and for less dollars, they are weighing options and looking for the best deal possible before signing and reporting to ST.  Everybody wants the best deal possible for them and their family, whether they are signing as a minor league free agent, for 5 mill a year for 3 years, or for hundreds of millions.  Just because you're rich doesn't mean you just say "ok" when it's possible to get more.  Do you think billionaire businessmen are just like screw it and agree to deals prematurely just because they're still rich regardless?

A lot of animoisity stemming from nothing more than jealousy.

I know when I was looking for a job, if someone made me a fair offer, I’d have time to consider it, but if I said “let me wait around for better offers to come in,” they would tell me to go kick rocks.

And before you tell me it’s different, I know it is. But don’t then compare it to what we would do in our lives. And this isn’t typical. Boras is known for keeping his clients from signing as a technique to get more money. It’s his right, but that doesn’t make it less annoying. It’s not like there are an infinite number of places the guy can go.

maybe if bryce wanted that sweet $500 million deal he shouldn't have sucked in 2016 and most of 2018.  he played himself.  sorry if i don't feel sympathy for someone having to choose between a $300 million and a $330 million deal. poor bryce, all those jealous fans!  at this stage it's just selfishness and putting himself before the team he would eventually sign with.

Pretty crazy stuff.

I'm not surprised. Martinez (a better hitter than Bryce) didn't sign with the Red Sox until Feb 21st last winter.

JD Martinez wasn't a better hitter at the age Bryce is now.

What if... Harper never considered leaving and he is just a secret agent - getting intel on opposing teams for the Nats?

Not really the point.  They are trying to squeeze every dollar while teams are trying not to overpay.  Players and teams realize that every day players don't need six weeks of spring training to get ready for the season.  Probably the new normal.

That might have been an extreme case.  Most of them don't end up with more than 2 weeks worth of at bats.

It's no wonder teams are reluctant to give long term contracts to players. When has a long term contract ever worked out for the team. There are plenty of examples when it hasn't from Pujols, Cabrera, Chris Davis (what a nightmare), David Wright to even Stanton. If the Yankees didn't have Stantons contract they probably would have signed either Machado or Harper which they probably would have preferred.
The one exception I can think of could be Max if he keeps pitching like he has.
