Corbin is a good signing given the budget consfraints of the owners. Nobody should kid themselves. The Lerners are cheap. Harper is gone.

Lerners are cheap, but Harper not coming back is a blessing in disguise. The team that gives him that big contract is going to regret it similar to the Rangers with ARod.

Nats are better off. Decent moves this offseason, just continue to add and move away from the Harper era.

If the Lerners were not going to seriously pursue Harper, which is fine, then they should have traded him. Instead they pretended he was a grandson and squandered an opportunity.

I believe the $300MM 10 year offer. They might have thought that would be good enough. I can't blame them for not bidding against themselves.

The Lerners didn't become the richest owners in baseball and in the Forbes 400 by being dumb and making emotional decisions in business. They made an offer to start the process and if some of the other clubs wants to get in an auction scenario they will decide when and if to jump in. Yes they have an emotional bond with him but they know what his value is to the Nats who are restricted by the salary cap penalty. I believe the re-signing of Rendon is more important to the Nats on field success after 2019 than Harpers.

The Lerners' unwillingness to trade Harper would refute the notion that they dont make emotional decisions.

Why are we posting batting lineups in the Corbin thread. There’s an offseason thread for those.

Where is anything related to Corbin?

I think the lineup for me was the post that listed 8 guys in a presumed batting order.

Can’t read it all. What’s it say

basically that don't be surprised if the Nats work something out with Harper, but he doesn't provide any new facts, it's just his opinion / speculation.

The trade market for Harper was unimpressive.

I can't help but think that Boras has overplayed his hand and his bluff is gonna be called...

I don't think for a minute that Harper wants to play for the Phillies nor White Sox...

Me, I hope the Phillies get him.  So I can root against him even more !

Not as unimpressive as a fourth round comp pick
