Yeah. You'd think it would happen as soon as next year when we decline Zimmerman's option.
That's why I wonder if we are better off keeping Eaton around and platoon all 4 of Harper/Soto/Eaton/Robles and see what kind of 2B we can get for Michael Taylor.
Harper can get 200 AB at 1B when Zimm is on his yearly DL trip and it might be best to not throw Robles right into the fire.
I imagine they will rework Zim’s contract to keep him an extra year or two and bring down the overal AAV number. Like 3 years 27 million (I’m making the number up). He gets to retire a Nat and get 9 million extra bucks and it cuts his AAV number in half next season. So the nats would save almost 2 million in luxury tax.
