With bonuses, if fully earned to the degree possible, the Nats will go over the salary cap again this season. I don't see us expanding the roster with anyone of note without dumping some salary already on the books.
Don't we have roughly ~10 million left to spend? I guess the bonuses have to be accounted for, but if we're already over by a couple million, what is a couple more for huge roster improvements?
Personally I'd move MAT this spring to a rebuilding team where he can start and use his $2 million to sign Warren to a 1-year deal and try to sign Adam Jones as our backup/part-time CF.
