The positive to 2018 being such a letdown is, versus being "close," it forces you to really self-examine.  Rizzo has a lot of good pieces to work with, but clearly a shake up is also needed to build around those pieces.

Unsurprising, given that reinstating him and signing someone to replace Wieters would give you 5 catchers on the 40 man.  That's not an efficient use of space.   There are still 3 Cs on the 40 even with Solano gone, all of whom show more promise in some respect than he did.

yes.  Raudy definitely provides more juice to the catching spot.

Catchers!! I'm still trying to figure out how Sandy Leon hit .310 for the Red Sox in 2016. Someone pls remind me why we did not keep Kurt Suzuki. Too expensive?

Assuming his new power wasnt the result of PEDs

He was making $6.5 million on a non-playoff team, was hitting .220 with no power, was in the last year of his contract, and had lost the job to Ramos.

Got his power and batting eye back in ATL, I guess.

The only rational explanation for Leon in 2016 is PEDs.  And he slumped at the end of the season if I remember correctly.

On the now defunct other forum, I was pleading at the 2017 trading deadline for management to re-acquire Suzuki.  It was a missed opportunity.  Now the chickens have come home to roost.

I like the Leon corollary to the McCraken theorem as a better explanation.

If I understand the rules correctly the Yankees would not get a draft pick if they offered Happ a QO since he didn’t start the year with them. Correct? Maybe the Yanks already know they will get corbin?

Ottavino is solid. He just can't be called on for more than an inning. He's a true SU guy. Would look great in a Nats Jersey but that ain't happening.

That one doesn’t seem rediculous.

I'd rather start Difo all season than sign Dozier to a deal

Dozier was a stud in 16 and 17.  I'd be fine with the 1 year deal.

We have Howie...we don't need another second baseman...

We have a loaded outfield...even without Royce...

We need pitchers and catchers...

He’s not going to be able to play 2B in a regular basis. Unless you want another 2018 Murphy.
