For pitchers? No, not really.

I only asked rhetorically. (Kinda, sorta :) ) So it’s free agency or bust.

Rizzo has 2 things going in his favor if the Lerners really want Bryce back;

1. The owners tightened the screws with free agent spending last year
2. Bryce crap the bed this year.

I know this will set some people off on this board, but I don't think Harper depressed his value that much this year. The market is about potential and overall past performance. And the year he had this year was really not that bad. If anything I think he might have cost himself about $5M a year. So maybe less than $30M a year vs. more than $30M year.

Let me ask an old guy Q. You buy 3 tix online. Does 1 pass with your smartphone under the turnstile reader get all 3 people in?

1. What does that have to do with anything?
2. Sure, but he's still going to get 25+ million next year. The only question is it going to be a on a one year deal (or a deal with a player option right after the first year), or as part of a long term deal.

While I think the swing man has a role, tthe days of dedicated long reliever are numbered. You are either a one inning guy or can go multiple innings. Grace and Suero are those guys

Weren’t you paying attention last year? Free agents sat on the sidelines picking their noses waiting for the call that never came. Was that indicative of the quality of free agents last year or is that the new normal?

How many straight games has Suero played? Seems like he’s in every game.

He won’t be getting a long term contract that starts with a 4 like I thought a few years ago.

No. Your phone will have to be swiped three times. Basically, it's 3 seperate tickets. It's easier if you can forward each to each person entering the park. They can use the Ballpark app or Google Wallet to store the tickets. I know some people who pull up PDFs and get them scanned that but I have not.

Both. None of the guys other than Martínez has really performed well this season and none of them were the ages of Harper and Machado.

That being said. Owners have realized that their biggest bang for buck is cheap controlled talent. Not expensive free agents on back ends of careers.

Not really relevant. That was just speculation by a bunch of talking heads.

Difference with Harper is he is just reaching his prime.

I was looking at that Nats commercial with the MAT lookalike who buys tix for his group which made me think of that. So it’s 1 pass under the reader, swipe to the next ticket and another read, and a final swipe to the last ticket and a final read?

It could be argued that at 26 he hasn’t even reached his prime yet.

Sure, you can do that but that's kind of annoying. And once inside no one has a ticket if they want to go on their own and they get hassled by ushers on the way back. Or what if you arrive to the ballgame at different times?

Adn that guy doesn't look like MAT at all. :D

They sat on the sidelines because every team knew that this year's  free agent class was going to be packed with young talent.
