OK, I don't want to hear any crap about how the Nats don't handle rain well. These dimwits in Philadelphia forgot to put the tarp down over the weekend when there's a game on Monday. And now it looks like the field is unplayable.

It's all good jets/lions kickoff only a few minutes away

Seriously. Why would they put such a terrible match up on the opening night for MNF?

Head groundskeeper is working on his resume as we speak.

The groundskeepers are idiots. Unless they get some fans or wind going they will never be able to dry this off. They can't dry it off just be raking it. I see they are bringing out some blow torches so that might work.

And they need to have it dry before they go home so they can cover it. You can't put a tarp on top off wet turf.

They’re gonna try for two tomorrow. 3:05 start. How the freak do they forget to cover the field?

I became a bit of baseball field maintenance geek after years of working on LL and HS fields. Kind of the job of parents.

Philadelphia looks on the faces of the grounds-crew. "Baseball? Baseball here?" Same thinking as the Nats' CF in the late '40s who, legend says, took off from 1B on a hit-and-run, a long fly ball to deep right-center. He had touched 3B by the time the ball came down in an outfielder's glove. Went back to 1B the short way...just at the edge of the mound. Arch McDonald "No! Go back! What's he doing??"

I guess it's better than drain pipes in the OF at Yankee Stadium.

"The cover was made of thin plywood with a rubber coating. According to a former Yankee groundskeeper, “It was wedged in there, below-ground. You had to hit it with your heel, wedge it down real tight. If it wasn’t, a player could trip on it."

It still makes me :smh: to think that the weather this evening was fine but the field was unplayable.

I don't want them.  You can keep the NASCAR on grass and the hurricanes.
