Uh oh:

They are desperately trying to get the infield here playable. It does not appear to be anywhere close to ready at this point.

The infield dirt at Citizens Bank Park is in really rough shape. It appears the tarp was not down for some period over the weekend. They’re using heaters to try to fix it. Not great.

Tarp wasn't down over a rainy weekend with a scheduled Monday night game?  Slow clap.

Where ever the Nats go, the rain delays follow. Maybe, as someone said, this is how they make it to the postseason.

EDIT: postseaon, not playoffs.

Speaking of union jobs, here's a funny story:

A coworker used to work at The Boston Globe, in the infographics department. He'd often get graphics printed and sent to production. He never handled the delivery because someone else usually did it. One day, he needed to send a late fix. No one from production answered his emails and decided to delivery the print himself. When he got to the printer, a guy was waiting for him.

Guy: "What do you think you're doing?"

Coworker: "Taking this print to production."

Guy: "No can do. This is union job. Guy 2 will be here shortly."

Coworker: "Ah, OK. I didn't know."

Guy: "Don't let it happen again. Otherwise, we'll break your fingers ;)"

reminds me of the scene in Bull Durham where Crash waters down the field overnight to get the team a day off.

What happened to the old helicopter trick?     Tight quarters perhaps?    To change an old joke a bit.    The propane tanks blew up and caused 10 million dollars worth of improvements in South Philly.
