Judge his entire career to date. And more importantly what you think he will do in the future.  And I have no idea how they calculate WAR so I can’t answer your question.

You cited just two stats from one year. But you want me to consider his career.  You can look up how WAR is calculated.

His numbers are in decline since 2015. He seems to have peaked at 23.

Corrected the typo re we.

WAR IS stupid. I’ve looked it up and don’t understand. And no one else does either.

That’s why all the MLB executives use it. His OPs this year is good. Almost .900. Just don’t think that’s worth 25-30 million. I don’t have confidence in him going forward given the prolonged slumps in 2016 and this year. He seems unable or unwilling to do things to get out of a slump.

3 of his 7 seasons have been under 2 WAR. 2015 seems to be the exception and yet some people want him to be judged or paid based on that season.

The executives can use it all they want because they have stats geeks who understand it. But the majority of fans don’t understand it and I think it’s funny how they throw it around anyway.

Average out his career and go from there.

The concept is not really that complicated.

He’s 14 this year in MLB for OPS. Not bad. But not superstar like. There is going to be a bidding war and it only takes one other team to drive up the price.

Again average out how career is and then project.

If only real life worked like that. The Nats would be NL east champs again.

Too bad this team didn't show up a month earlier. Sigh.

Over the last couple of years it seems like the Nats have had their way with Edwards.
