2 year contract so I'm stuck, but yes, you are right.  BiL is renewing because he is a better fan than the rest of us, as he puts it

I'm a better person (not a better fan though) simply because I'm not stupid enough to sign a two-year contract. ;)

That's an unfair characterization, he doesn't consider himself to be a better fan, he's a superior person.

I don't know. Does buying season tickets to actually use them vs. scalping them to make a few bucks make me a superior person? You decide. :$$$:

Scalping? No one is scalping tickets this year. I cross my fingers that my $20 tickets will sell for $6, last night was a total loss.

If I haven't mentioned this before, anyone considering buying a season plan, do yourself a favor and don't.

That is, unless you want to go to the games yourself. Then you might want to buy a plan and get all the benefits we've discussed. But if all you care about is buying tickets at the cheapest price (honestly, buying them from resellers is cheaper for the most part) or if you want to scalp tickets, then it's not a good idea.

PB is probably right.  You can probably go to 70 games a year for less money than on a SPH plan.  but if they are playing exciting ball and in a race, then I think that gets cut down to closer to 50 games.  It's a big ballpark.

Everything with PB is about money. Don't fall into that trap. And if you want help negotiating your two-year contract, just let me know. :)

You don't buy a plan to make money, you buy it to go to games. I'll attend my usual ~25 this year, but my family, friends, and co-workers are a lot tougher to recruit this season. I'd think it was just me, but I used to get pissed if I lost half my money in a resale, now I'm happy when they sell for $6. This started even before the team tanked.

Last time the team offered a multi year price lock it was a great deal. This time it was big mistake.

I was sort of figuring my group stays pretty much in its current form through 2020, so I thought the 2 year lock and 3d year option sounded pretty good.   Longer term, the seats are nice, but it is really too expensive for an office group.  I've had trouble getting commitments and had to bring in riff-raff from the outside.

I thought about it a lot but I sent the email yesterday to opt out. I’m just not getting to as many games as I used to and I have to eat the tickets since there’s no demand. I’m trying to pay off some things too so it’s hard to justify the expense. I like all the perks but it just doesn’t make sense to renew right now.

Anyone who went to the game, how was the crowd? I had tickets in the fifth row of 222 go unsold for $6, but they announced 33K attendance. Must have been a ton of no shows.

The Nats contacted my kid's school and offered them a block of free tickets for the Saturday Cubs game. Remember when those used to be premium games? They are papering the house.

Here is a pic from the 6th inning. There is no way there were thirty thousand people at that stadium. Trains going there and back were not crowded. Concession lines were manageable.

They said 33,000 attended? No way. Wide shots on TV showed a lot of empty seats.

MLB attendance figures are based on paid tickets, not actual attendees.

As bluestreak's photo shows, there were tons of folks "in the shade".     Neighbor and I roamed the Park and there were plenty of familes on the concourses (all levels).    Dippy Dot concessions had lines 40 people (or more) deep.      In addition, we were in the vicinity of the Devi's Backbone stand on the third deck in the 3rd and there was a steady stream of people leaving through the CF gates even then.    With each inning, the masses exited.    By the time we left (after the game), there was no problem walking, no congestion, from the stadium to Lot W and little traffic on the way out of the city (6th SE to "E" ST to Washington AVE SW to Independence west).

33K?    I ain't so sure but there were a lot of kids and no left-over PJs.    Watchin' the children meander havin' a good time was more entertaining than the game.    :smh:

Announced at tendency is those who paid. I paid but did not show up. Got cut loses. I don't see any purpose in going and spending more money to watch professional futility.

I saw a lady show the kids the PJs but I didn't notice if they were jammies with footies.

Good to know. I also wondered if they count the number of scanned tickets at the entrance. That would make more sense.
