Leeds played DCU at RFK in 96 or 97...one of the first big (at the time) international friendlies if I recall correctly.  They were still in the top flight at the time, but were like the lowest scoring team to not be relegated since, well, ever.  Then they got relegated.  And relegated.

Glad to see them back in the light again.
When't the last time Sheffield was in the 1st level?       I remember Sheffield and Leeds bein' pretty good.

Fake news. Only happens in Philly.

Doesn't seem to be anyone from a DCU supporters group as far as I can tell.  Probably some proud boys incels with their panties in a twist about the ECS flags.

As a card-carrying member of SSE/ECS, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Seattle supporters said something to trigger the violence. Not that violence is ever warranted....

The mls wanted European style fan clubs- what do they think European fan clubs do to opposing fans?

Good news: The Post reports DC United are severing ties with Flo Sports, although they haven't yet said where next year's games will be televised.

Good lord it isn’t. You would have thought a trip to the third tier for an outfit like them would be a humbling experience and encourage a certain humility in their behaviour. To an extent, it did, but the arrival of Bielsa has thoroughly gone to too many heads. ‘Dirty’ Leeds are back.

Who plays in the 2012 Olympic Stadium?  Is that the new Spurs stadium or is it West Ham?

Didn’t see the game but Pulisic has a hat trick. Maybe that’s a sign for the coach he has adjusted and can play some more.  ;)

I watched part of the game and wanted to see him play.    I couldn't stay away from baseball long enough.

Liverpool should be up 2-3 goals v. man u, but it's 1-0 at the start of the 2d half.

Chelsea and Leicester is a good match. No Pulisoic though. Looks like the lad will be out until mid February.

All of the Manchester City news coming out about their ban for breaking rules brought to mind what's been going on with the Astros. One network had on a commentator who was a lifelong fan; he didn't dance around the fact that if rules in fact were broken, that what they achieved has unquestionably been tainted.

Also, the amount of realistic and impactful penalties are quite the contrast to what's going on in Manfred land.

The man city penalty is getting over turned in arbitration. The fun part will be how much they release about other teams - the owner has already promised and Juve especially has just as crooked a sponsorship deal

Owner of Los Angeles FC says MLS will be more popular than MLB by 2030: https://www.republicworld.com/sports-news/other-sports/mls-owners-predict-league-will-surpass-mlb-premier-league.html

...zzzZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZzzz...I've been hearing remarks like this ever since the NASL days back in the 1970's (remember the old Diplomats telly ads with their little jingle 'we play the game for today'). That remark from another owner about MLS becoming of higher quality than the Premier League and La Liga by that time made me laugh though.

I also notice MLS is still expanding at an NASL clip, that Charlotte just got awarded a team. If they're going to keep expanding like this they really need to go to a two-tiered league with promotion/relegation.

Will they find a way to make the games not awful? If they manage to get people to follow soccer, do they have a strategy to stop people from seeing the champions league or the premiere league on TV and realizing how subpar MLS actually is

It’s a Ponzi scheme. The only way to keep many of the franchises afloat is the fees paid by the cities that get expansion teams. Eventually it will fall apart.

Ponzi was a midfielder for Juventus, I think.

Actually, Ponzi's old offices are at 10 Post Office Square in Boston. My first job after college was at One Post Office Square.
