I was torn about Pens/Isles, but the Lightning being out this early is nothing short of stunning.  I thought they were going to roll through the East this year.  2010 Caps all over again.

Last Islanders sweep was 1983.    I peeked to see if it was the Caps.    No.   They only beat us 3-1 (out of 5) in the first round.    They swept the Final.

does hockey reseed for the 2d round?  Caps I think are #2, so would they get the lowest seed (CBJ) if DC moves on or would they get the winner of 3/6?

No...the matchups are set from the outset...they get the Islanders (or Pens if they were still in it)...then the Atlantic Champ...then the Western Conference Champ...

Winnipeg and St Louis game last night was just unbelievable. Heartbreaker for Winnipeg. The Canadian teams just seem unable to do anything right in the playoffs.

well, I'm guessing a few others didn't have the Blue jackets and Avalanche.  Pretty impressive for Makar to step off the ice in the NCAA Championship and onto the Avalanche's roster (not to mention scoring on his first shot). 

That's kind of the fun thing about the NCAA hockey tournament and the Frozen Four.  You know which teams have rights to the draftees and who the major free agents are, and often these guys go straight into the playoffs.  MacAvoy was another star to do it.
