Hi!
only thing that keeps me from being upset about the offense tonight is, even if we score 5 runs, we don't win because Bad gio showed up.

Well, let's say good Gio showed up... wouldn't have mattered because the usual offense showed up too.

Hold your horses. They're trying to top last night's crapshow.

  • Re-contending in 202...5?
Seems we either score a ton of runs, or get shut out.

22 games in June:
9 games scoring 5 runs or more
7 games shut out

6 during this 5-11 stretch.  It seems it fell apart at about the same time as Murphy and Eaton came back and Adams got hurt.  I guess there's a loss of feng shui in the clubhouse.  I suggest moving the ficus.

that happened in 2015 when Span, Zimmerman and Werth came back from injury

Happened last year when everyone came back from the DL too. Lasted about 2-3 weeks. I’d expect this one to last a bit longer since Eaton and Murphy missed much more time and the offense wasn’t exactly a powerhouse without them (as opposed to the 2017 Kendrick/Lind Show).

What happened  today in the ninth is exactly what happened the home opener except this time it was Severino weakly popping out to right instead of Zimmerman when the bases were loaded.
We need a catcher who can handle a bat.......we need anyone who can handle a bat

Severino didn't bat in the 9th.  Harper walked then

Quote
Rendon eventually struck out against reliever Chaz Roe, and Harper remained at first base. Harper is coming back to life lately, with six doubles in his past five games, and he missed a game-tying home run by inches in the sixth. But that he could not steal second meant the Nationals did not score when Soto and Murphy singled against Alvarado. They left the bases loaded when the Rays’ Sergio Romo got Trea Turner to fly out before striking out Michael A. Taylor on three pitches to end it.

Not even close.

Against a pitcher who had a 7.02 ERA over his last 9 starts?  When the Nats are in desperate need of wins with the season on the line?  I think in in the top 5.  Another shutout.  unbelievable.

It's a colossal disgrace.  The entire team and all the coaches should collectively hang their heads in shame.  What did that team-only meeting accomplish?

This bag of crap climaxed in the 3rd inning when Gio lead off with a double and then Eaton had his selfish, BS at bat.  Gio never moved, stood out there all inning, then surrendered the HR to Marte.  Ball game.  F U

Hit a freaking ground ball to the right side, move Gio to 3rd, and then Soto brings him in with a sac fly.  When is the last time Eaton hit a HR, or even drove a ball with authority to a gap?  Instead he tries to mash and hits a lazy flyball to left.

This team does not do situational hitting. Bunting and hit and run plays have been bared by the manager for his own static reasons

1) why sacrifice to move a guy from 2nd to 3rd when you have a guy who gets on base 40% of time?
2) When does Eaton typically try to mash? How sure are you that’s what he’s trying to do?
3) it was one run, the bats needed at least two today.
4) giving free outs and taking the bat out of the hands of your best hitters is not typically the way to win in he long run.
