Nationals @ Diamondbacks, Game 2
« Topic Start: May 11, 2018, 03:45:00 PM »
You are traveling through another dimension,
a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination.
Your next stop...

9:40 PM ET Game time Forecast: 92°F • Breezy • 0% PoP

This is Max Scherzer, age 33, a man who has been a major league baseball player for 10 years. His right eye is blue and his left eye is brown. He has been an All Star 5 times and won the Cy Young Award several times. He has traveled all the way to his appointed destination, which happens to be in the darkest corner of The Twilight Zone.

Nationals
Max Scherzer (R)

Diamondbacks
Matt Koch (R)

Someone else will need to post the lineups...
I'm entering another dimension...

Max returns to where it all started.

I'm trying to remember all the moving pieces in the deal that sent Scherzer to Detroit.  I think Ian Kennedy (from the NYY) and Edwin Jackson went to Arizona, Scherzer and another decent prospect went to Detroit (a guy who didn't pan out), and Curtis Granderson went to the NYY?  Did Austin Jackson go to Detroit, too, from the NYY.

Tigers got:
Max Scherzer
Austin Jackson
Phil Coke
Daniel Schlereth

D-Backs got:
Ian Kennedy
Edwin Jackson

Yankees got:
Curtis Granderson

I was upset about this trade when it happened because I was a huge fan of Granderson. But it turned out well for the Tigers. I think the real team that got hosed was the D-Backs though...

Damn, that was a great haul for the Tigers.  Dombrowski is a wizard.  He's up there with Pat Gillick and Theo Epstein among the best of a generation or two.

Kennedy actually pitched pretty well for the D'Backs and was part of their playoff run in 2011.  They didn't get had too badly there.  I think what hurts them is that they ended up trading him only after a couple years or so for some real scrubs.

Despite American Airlines’ best efforts to ruin my weekend, I have arrived in Phoenix, and will be heading down to the ballpark around 5 local time. Phoenix is hot and people should not live in the desert.

Some panic moves there.  I don't like it.  Phillies and Braves completely unbeatable.

The only thing a dry heat is good for is making mummies.
