Jason Simontacchi (1-2, 5.19 ERA) makes his fourth start of the season as he takes the ball for the Nationals. The right-hander gave up three runs and eight hits, but struck out a season-high six in six innings of a 5-4 loss to Baltimore on Friday.

Simontacchi, who missed the last two seasons recovering from shoulder surgery, is making his first start against the Reds since May 13, 2003, when he allowed seven runs in 1 2-3 innings for St. Louis. He is 2-4 with a 4.93 ERA in 11 games - six starts - lifetime against Cincinnati.

Kyle Lohse (1-5, 4.75) looks to avoid becoming the first Reds starter in 13 years to lose in six straight appearances when he takes the hill on Wednesday.

Lohse, who is winless since April 15, has posted an 8.03 ERA during his five-game losing streak. John Smiley was the last Cincinnati starter to lose six in a row, doing so from May 13-June 8, 1994.

That's good to hear. I was expecting him to break out in a power surge in Cincinnati before the injury.

That looks like our opening day lineup, minus Patterson.

Edit: That was not a rip on JP (just in case thunderstruck happens to view this  :icon_mrgreen:).

Speaking of that, what went on last night after the game? After the game ended I went out to walk my pooches and when I returned I noticed there was heated debate going on but I didn't get a chance to chip in my a couple of cents because the thread had been locked.

Nothing went on...and like I said: we're entering a venting zone.  All parties have been forwarned before the game even starts.  So nobody has any excuses to get themselves all upset over people being passionate.  It's kind of like that disclaimer McDonald's put on their coffee cups to keep from being sued:  "CAUTION!  Beverage is HOT!"

All in all, it was an argument about what is acceptable in these threads.  The answer: ANYTHING NATIONALS RELATED.  Basically, no personal attacks.  And that's all that will be said about that tonite.

What does forewarned mean in reference to the game thread?

And it's no big deal, just make the pics a little smaller.

Here's a rule of thumb: if your sig is taller than the distance from the middle knuckle of your pointer finger to the end of the finger, it's too big.  Of course, this means people with large fingers get some leeway

ok, I'm ready for a rockin' nite.

Oh Erica, staying in the tub all game seemed to work last night.  Gotta do it again!  Actually, we must all do tonight exactly what we did last night and not what we did the night before!

If it produces a victory that's fine but I'm not so sure my girlfriend will agree  :-[
