I wonder how minor league attendance compares? If it is strong, than the price of attending MLB games might be the main problem.

I'd lower the mounds again. The game needs more offense.

It’s a year old, but it implies milb is doing fine

 - 100 game season
 - Lose four franchises
 - Seven inning games
 - Smaller ballparks (in terms of seating capacity)
 - Begin Playoffs on Labor Day Weekend
 - Execute anyone who says either of the phrases:
   - "Play the game the right way"
   - "Unwritten rules of baseball"

They haven’t beaten an AL team since May 25 (0-16) and are on pace for 46 wins :lmao:

Class move by the Orioles

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23949054/baltimore-orioles-pay-tribute-capital-gazette-shooting-victims

McNamara was a journalism student at U of Md just after I left, and he covered sports for the school newspaper, the Diamondback.  The Diamondback at the time had the largest circulation of any college newspaper, and was equivalent to that of the Capital Gazette at around 30,000 (5 days a week).  I believe Rob Hiaasen, another victim, taught journalism at Md at one time.

Chris Davis ties Cal Ripken for the most K's in Oriole's history.  Ripken played in 2,029 more games.

Just got back from lunch at a place across the street from my office, where they had the Orioles match on one of the tellies (with sound off, mercifully)...okay I realise it's a weekday afternoon and the Phillies may not be a traditional rival of the Orioles but...WHERE IS EVERYBODY????

Looks like another sub-10k turn-out at what the so-called experts used to flog as Everyone's Favourite Ballpark.

Game was last evening. 6:00 PM game. One game series. Make up of rain date.

In that case that's even more astounding with it being a regular prime-time first pitch.

Maybe. It was an hour earlier than a usual start. They are thirty games below .500. Franchise in ruins.

According to Baseball Reference, their replacement level team would be a 48 win team.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/about/war_explained.shtml

Quote
Sports Reference sets replacement level at .294 winning percentage or a "record" of 48-114. This change was made in March of 2013 after deciding with FanGraphs.com to set a single replacement level between our sites. We also smoothed out the changes in replacement level between the two leagues where before the change from one decade to the next had been stepwise.

Retro schtick aside, it's a pretty crappy place to watch a ballgame.  Maybe they need to double down on the retro...baggy 1920 uniforms and cast iron TV cameras belching steam.  Forget baseball, make it a theme park.

Could the Orioles break a record this year for Games Behind ?  Right now, the Orioles are 39.5 games behind the Red Sox

IIRC, you have have to turn to look at second base if your seats are down the line.    The seats face off line to the infield action.

It’s a prototype for pnc and at&t- parks that are slightly retro, but manage to actually make for a good fan experience

I didn't have the "turn my head" experience at PNC.     They must have discovered the "error".    :)

I would think that is something that is discernible through graphic design, mock ups, etc.     Seems like a poorly engineered place that takes a full scale model to determine which way the seats are facing.
