It's not panic time, but its not sugar coat time either.  If you are looking at those records, it is a slow start.  All that said, Max came through like a stopper and an ace.  We needed it.
True, and maybe it's better to start slow and have to adjust and compete, than to walk over the division all year and collapse in October. This will also show us if Martinez is up to that. Max sure came through yesterday. Hope SS now does.

ATTENDANCE at this match: 19,528

:uk:

This match is being repeated on MASN at
9:00 am tomorrow morning.

Our lowest home turn-out (and first sub-20k paid attendance) since Thursday 25th May 2017 vs Mariners (18,881).

[granted, though, that a 40-something degree night to watch the losing-streak-mired home side take on Freddie Freeman and his mates is not everyone's idea of a proper baseball night out]

O's only drew an official attendance of 7K last night. We had nearly three times as many - says something about each team's season ticket base.

I've seen four-digit attendances for other Orioles home fixtures in recent years as well (for opponents like Tampa Bay). But if they're only pulling 7k total then that STH base must really be hurting .

I think I heard it was the lowest attendance figure in OPACY history (guess that's not counting the game they played that was closed to fans when the city was overtaken by rioters). Good.

That's what the ESPN.com match story says: http://www.espn.com/mlb/recap/_/id/undefined - and it broke the old record by about 1200.

[Nats Park's all-time low is 10,999 on Monday 20th September 2010 vs Astros]

Wednesday should be an all time low attendance total for the Nats...1:05 game with Cole on the bump and 50 degree temps...a trifecta I tell ya...

I dunno...with an announced attendance of 19K last night, that should give you an idea of the size of the STH base. I doubt there were a lot of other folks at the park last night.

If you are a SPH, you are trading out of this game in a heartbeat...we'll see...it ain't gonna be pretty...

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their fifth win, each season:

2014 - 8th April (7th match of season)
2013 - 9th April (7th match)
2018 - 9th April (10th match)
2017 - 11th April (8th match)
2016 - 12th April (6th match)
2012 - 12th April (7th match)
2011 - 12th April (10th match)
2005 - 13th April (9th match)
2010 - 16th April (10th match)
2015 - 17th April (11th match)
2006 - 18th April (14th match)
2007 - 18th April (15th match)
2008 - 18th April (17th match)
2009 - 29th April (20th match)

...with 2018 looking better than it arguably should since this season began so early (and some other examples can be found elsewhere in the listing) - this will become less of a factor as the season continues and the statistical base (i.e. number of matches played) grows larger.
