Most teams seem to bump into those guys from time to time.
True, but (albeit its still early to tell) a rotation of Scherzer, Stras, Gio, Roark, and Reynaldo would have been a formidible rotation that every other GM would envy. No use arguing about it though, because you know. Mighty Mouse
The portion that gm’s would envy are the result of luck and an owner willing to break the bank, not inherent shill on the part of the gm
But this isn't Kansas City or Tampa Bay or anything. An owner willing to break the bank should be considered an asset to a good GM, not a detriment. You cant dock someone who wants and has the ability to go out and get a Scherzer
I want a lefty.
Why?
Robbie Ray and Alex Meyer also might yet end up being success stories (albeit for other teams).Drafting good pitching is definitely Rizzo's weak point, but it's not as bad as it seems. The Nats traded a lot of guys because of "win now" mode.
