They didn't need to be outstanding at any portion. They just needed to be normal. The Nats weren't able to do that.

1.5 games up on the Phillies for second. It's not much but I hope they finish ahead of the Phillies.

Why can't we ever have a pennant race?   It's so much fun watching high stakes games in September and it's something we've yet to witness.

That's how I feel.  I'd love to have a division race go down to the last weekend.

say what you will about the Mets, but the David Wright send-off tonight couldn't have been done any more perfectly.  Easy HOF'r

Sure since he’s a NY’r.

I don't really care what everyone says about the Mets. They are a class organization, and they have been since 1962.

Sure since he’s a NY’r.

that, and his career stats:

1,777 career hits,
242 home runs
970 RBIs
.296   .376   .491 career slash line
seven-time all star

Maybe not an easy HOF'r as I said above, but he'll certainly have a decent chance.

I don’t think he gets there. In five years the voters are going to be much more analyticly based and a lot more old timers will have fallen off the rolls. Plus it’s hard for third basemen to get in. If he had stayed healthy, I think he’s in though.

Baseball reference has him below average on all of their hof metrics- he’ll get in, but only because of new york

Your dislike of NY and your belief that all injustice stems from things NY is laughable. Not sure why you feel so inadequate. That said, I know many NYM fans and NONE believe Wright was able to to do enough to get to HOF. NONE. His multiple injuries have prevented that. He was on track...then that track ended. Be pleased Tim Raines got in. At least he is one from the franchise that deserves it...and NY somehow didn't prevent it.

What are you ranting about? Someone suggested Wright might get in the hall of fame, and he said maybe by the veterans committee (i.e. not by normal ballot).  If anyone's "inadequate" it's more likely you than him.

What's even funnier is that he and the other mets fans that he knows agreed with DCFan's opinion and that of several other posters here.

I know this guy from school who's a hardcore Mets fan. He's insufferable. I'm sure the two are correlated.

that's the way Braves fans are in my life. The Mets fans I know are tolerable, reasonable humans. Braves fans are self-righteous pricks.

Same here.    In fact, it's scary just how "normal" they can be outside of baseball.
