Especially Markakis. No way he can have this kind of year.

Markakis got away from Jim Presley and slowly rebuilt his swing. I miss Natsadict's rants about Presley when he coached for the fish.

If you think us Nats fans are upset, check out this article from Philly:

The Braves collapses seems to have happened a little later.

Scherzer's horrible start and last night's choke job really cost the Nats. We could be 4.5 back

Do you still think we would not have won the division with a different manager?

No. No one was overcoming the injuries and the inept performances of Gio, Roark, and Bryce Harper's selfishness.

Martinez is now 10-7 since getting rid of Gio and getting a bullpen that overcome Roark's crappy pitching.

September is fools gold.  Be wary of judging him with an expanded roster making it almost impossible to burn out a bullpen or run out of bench players.

So other teams don’t have the same advantage? Harper hitting sure helps. And Rendon has picked it up.

Yes so that means Martinez is superior at managing a 40-man squad.  If the active roster were 40 all season he'd be manager of the year.

No, it means the Nats can be good if they dont have to make up for two starting pitchers rocking ERAs over 5

This. Davey has made his share of mistakes, but even now players are coming out in defense of him. Doolittle has said his use of the bullpen has gotten better as the season went on. The players love playing for him. It's not Davey's fault that Gio and Roark were pooping the bed every 5th day. It's also not Davey's decision to bench his starters, as that is something figured out a higher level. Rizzo gave Gio too much rope.

I heard yesterday when Stras went down they were 11 games over .500. Their starting pitching is the main culprit. But while they're playing well now they're still giving away games I think they should win. Davey was in over his head but if he's around next year he should be better.

Hitting was inconsistent also. Many shutouts with a few high scoring games mixed in. And then the pen collapsed also. True team effort.

Well we passed Philly, at least for now. At one point that looked unlikely. Atlanta will probably end up with about 92 wins. We could have passed that with an outstanding August and September.
