Man. You are really old.
I used to caddy for mitlen when he was on the senior tour...
When I was a kid, it was a big deal. It was THE All Star game. Now, it seems, to me, to be just part of the blend. If a local team (other than NFL) was on another channel that night, I'd watch that game and drop in the AS game when I thought Harper was at bat.
Remember that last super blue blood moon in 1866? Wasn't that sumpin' else?
Super blue blood? I think I roomed with the guy back in college.
i'm thinking about attending but it will depend on ticket cost
I'm assuming they will send paper tickets and there will be a digital alternative, just like the postseason strips. I really want to take a bunch of photos, enlarge the best and have it framed along with my ticket strip. My neighbor owns a framing shop/gallery and does beautiful work and always gives me a nice discount
I'd be shocked if some of the ancillary events don't appear cheaper on the secondary market. The only one I'm considering is the futures game, but not unless the tickets are relatively reasonable
You're probably right but I'm shocked right now with how many people in my tickets groups are interested in the futures game. I think it's safe to say that the celebrity softball game will be an easy ticket. Not sure about the fanfest. Depends on how it's done.
Celeb Softball game is part of All Star Sundays ticket (Futures game).
This article says FanFest will be "open to the public." I read that as "free", but it could just mean open to anyone who walks up and buys a ticket. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2017/07/26/heres-who-gets-first-dibs-on-tickets-to-the-2018-all-star-game-at-nationals-park/?utm_term=.c9972b29cc1fLast year in Miami they sold tickets for $10 for a very short window and then they went up to $35 http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/fish-bytes/article134008449.html
That makes sense since I can't imagine someone actually paying for a celebrity softball game.
I can't imagine watching one, even if it's free.
Me too, but I bet the autograph hounds will be out. Maybe some big name old timers there.
Here is the lineup from last year's. Miami would probably be one of the 3 easiest places to attract celebrities and this is what they could muster. It's going to be slim pickings for DChttp://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2017/sunday/legends-celebrity-softball/
I'm willing to give even money that they make it a political or media sort of celebrity game.
Kirk Cousins.
