Finding people
« on: January 10, 2018, 07:52:24 pm »
Any suggestions on web services that can help you locate people?

I'm looking for the living relatives of my deceased distant cousin.

All I have are the first and last names, and a general geographical area of "Chicago."

I contacted the cemetery and they didn't have a contact for any family members.

Pretty well stumped at this point as neither of the two folks I had emails for have responded to my email.

Thanks...

Doin' genealogy (my family), I often find obits contain pieces of info that can lead to other things.     Have you checked the virtual wall online?     There are occasionally tidbits added there as well.

As you know, many units have websites and there may be somebody there with info.    You may be headin' on a long journey.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Gaelic blessing

Good luck on your journey.

mitlen...I got a hit already:

Hi -
Wish I could help you, but I was a grammar school friend of Butch's.  I didn't know his parents.
I may know someone who might be able to help you.
I'll reach out to them.
Karen

Thanks again...this is indeed further than I've gotten in 6 months...

. Google is a start assuming the name isn’t too common.

Thanks...tried that and didn't really turned up anything other than what could be a bunch of random stabs in the dark.  Most of these folks are old like me, and without much of an electronic footprint.

I am getting some leads from a gal I emailed tonight...she was his grammar school classmate, and she sent me a link to his father's obituary.  Once I subscribe to the service, I may have a good number of names to chase.

Past my bedtime tonight...I'll dig back into it tomorrow.
