I thought I had seen earlier today that he re-uped with the Bucs.    Did they trade him?

The #Mets now have decided to sign 1B Adrian Gonzalez pending a physical.

(It’s nightengale so 50/50 chance it’s wrong)

Completely oddball thing to bring up, but MASN interviewed Showalter and asked him about Mike Moustakas. Said he only walks like 25 times a year and wouldn't give up a draft pick for him. I looked at the O's stats in 2017, and the were dead last in baseball in BB% and in the top 10 in K%. Also, somehow the Blows only stole 32 bases AS A TEAM.

I don't understand how the Showalter shtick hasn't gotten old but Baltimore should keep him and him and Angelo's can sink the franchise together.

Pearl Jam has announced they’re playing two shows at Safeco Field, part of a fundraiser to aid charities that help the homeless.

I might be a little bit jealous.

Mariners fans are suffering through the longest playoff drought in pro sports, so they ought to have something good.

With the Bills making it to the post season, the Mariners now have the longest playoff drought in sports.

Rosenthal is tweeting: Yelich has been traded to the Brewers.  Brewers sending 4 prospects. 3 of them are in Keith Law’s  Top 100.

Lorenzo Cain to the Brewers on a 5/80 deal. Brewers just need a little pitching and they are going to be scary.

I would assume they would want to flip some of their young OFs for pitching. Good luck with that though as most teams don't want to trade pitchers. Or maybe they will actually sign Darvish.

good haul for Florida.  Maybe this means they'll part with Realmuto too?

yelich and Cain?  Shwow.

Brinson in the deal, and it sounds like the OF Harrison the Marlins got is a decent high A power prospect.

I'm not sure they needed Cain with their outfield depth, but it does let them move at least one of Braun, Santana, or Broxton if they want.

Makes no sense to sign Cain unless they can move one of those guys.

More dor Yelich than they got for Stanton. I guess Jeter owed the Yanks.

Yelich has more value given his contract. There are no contract-agnostic deals anymore. Every team (or nearly every team) has a robust accurate valuation process for prospects and players.

Stanton is owed $295 million through his age-37 season. Given the contracts this offseason, how much more than that would he actually get? Now there's value to having him despite the contract, but if the Marlins were asking for a Yelich-type prospect deal why wouldn't the Yankees just sign Bryce or Manny or both next offseason?

You either pay in money or you pay in prospects. If the Marlins wanted more prospects for Stanton, they could have always sent some cash back to New York to offset that salary.  A lot of people think the Marlins got fleeced in the Stanton deal, but not being on the hook for the outstanding salary is worth a ton, and being on the hook for that salary will eventually be very expensive to the Yankees.
