Not sure who's fallen harder: Zimmermann himself or the Tigers for having him at second in the rotation at this point in his career.

Edit: Oh good grief - even WORSE.  He's their Opening Day starter.

:lmao: bird photography may not be my thing but I was Felipe's #1 fan, I knew he was going to be awesome.

I agree with your take on Felipe.

And my guess on your bird is house wren. If it scolds you when you go on the porch, like it owns the place, house wren.

Of course, birds on the redneck riviera, I don't know them. Could be anything.

No he definitely doesn't scold me.  I have 4 dogs and when I let them out for the last time at night that's when he's usually there and he doesn't even react, the first time I saw him I thought something had died up there lol he is apparently quite the hard sleeper!  My husband has one of those motion detecting cameras, I want him to set it up so I can see the front of the bird when it comes home to sleep at night but he's like "it's a bird, it'll look like a bird"  :?

Stephen Drew has announced his retirement. He stopped by tonight’s game to visit with his friends from his time as a national. He is currently recovering from an ankle surgery and coaching his kid’s team.

http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/pirates/2018/04/09/felipe-rivero-name-change-prescilla-vazquez-sister-pirates-closer/stories/201804090160

Because that's his sister's last name. His sister, a singer who was the primary negotiator on his contract extension, and apparently holds the keys to when he changes his jersey number. How odd.

In my AL roto league, we had a bidding war over Reynaldo Lopez this week in the FAAB bids.  He went for $4 over my bid of $3 and another bid of $2.

the Lucas Giolito hype train is back on the tracks

https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/lets-watch-lucas-giolito-look-very-good/

Getting away from the hot spring training guns is not good for Giolito. 7 walks to just 5 Ks in 11.2 IP in his first two starts with a 91.2 MPH FB.

Terrifying moment in Cleveland as JZim takes a comebacker to the face.

He is able to get up and walk off the field on his own.
Nothing broken, although he’ll probably get the concussion protocol.

That's the second time he's been hit in the face, right?  He was hit in college, wasn't he?  Wired jaw, lost weight, so dropped in the draft?

honestly, how do you go back on the mound ever again?  You have to do jedi mind tricks or have a Vulcan mind meld to not flinch or have it affect you.

Apparently a large part of Aaron Barrett's struggles to get back to the major leagues are mental, due to his horrific injury and his subconcious desire to not have his arm implode again. There was a really insightful and kind of heartbreaking article in the Post about it recently: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/nationals-journal/wp/2018/03/26/as-nationals-return-to-washington-aaron-barrett-is-left-to-continue-grueling-comeback-bid/?utm_term=.7a080a9de7c6   Some of these guys really have to push themselves mentally just to even try again.

Nick Pivetta off to a good start. That was a terrible trade.

I had to refresh my memory on the trade.     Great edit.

Gott for Escobar was worse...a .300 hitter for AAAA fodder...at least Papelbon had a pedigree...

Kurt Suzuki is killing the Nats today.

Late responding to this, but I just want to say how much I hate Kurt Suzuki.

It's one thing to kill us while he plays for the Barfs.  I could accept that, but the problem is that he also killed us while he played for us in the 2012 postseason (and 2013 regular season). :bang:

He goes on the craplist with Papelbum, Hanrahandthegameaway, and Milledge as ex-Nats I've desperately wanted to see fail.
