Promoted to AA Harrisburg today. Wil was 11-0 in his tenure with the PNats, with a 2.60 ERA.
A little late for that bump up for him to be useful this year in September, I think.

That's fine, don't rush him.  I don't think he would be the make/break of our chances for the playoffs or our success if we actually get in, so let's not push him and ruin him for later years.

yes.  A month in AA, and maybe an assignment to the AFL if he still needs innings, would set him up nicely for next year.

He probably won't need too many innings - he's at 90 now, and should get 5 starts, so 25-30 more.  He's also missed some time with an arm injury this year.  Possible AFL, but maybe not given the injury.

Can he be our #5 for next season?  I forgot about him.  He's only 23.  Can't be worse than lanky chain-link bling/bling guy who's always injured.  Forgot his name.

He's at 101 innings right now. Season ends September 3. He has, maybe, 25 innings left to pitch. It's a big jump from 130 innings to 170+ innings. Furthermore, the strain of pitching big league innings is going to be more than what he's used to.

Also, he's just starting Double A. It's a really big jump from Single A to Double A. You're no longer just trying to throw strikes. Now you're working on your actual command. Moving your pitches around the zone. Making them look like they're in the zone and then not be. Hitting corners with the offspeed, not just getting them over the plate. It's a big jump and we should see how he adjusts.

I'm not saying that he can't, but I don't think it should be counted on. It's entirely likely he needs another year or so of grooming.

Rough start last night, was scoreless through the first five, then he must have thought he was auditioning for a role in the Nats' bullpen and he couldn't get an out in the sixth.

5 IP 5H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 3Ks, ERA sits at 4.09 now.

He will be given every opportunity to make the starting rotation during spring training.

He lost his command pretty badly in AA. Hoping it's a blip on the radar. But yeah, he's not making the opening day roster in 2019.

When that happens I automatically think TJ surgery coming soon.

He's already had one, so a second would be very bad news.

Great to see. I wonder if he would get a shot at the big time in the event of a short-term injury.

I agree.  Don’t think he has the stuff to be a starter.

I don't think his stuff is right for the pen.  He's a four decent pitches type, not a two plus pitches and two show-mes.  I don't think he'd be a particularly good reliever, even if he went max-effort.  Put otherwise, I think he's a 4-ish ERA starter and also a 4-ish ERA reliever, which isn't enough of a bump off the talent level in house now (early returns notwithstanding) to justify messing with a guy who's developing ok but has a history of arm injuries.
