The ERAs in Fresno are insane. It has to be tough on a young pitcher's psyche to pitch in that league.
For perspective, the PCL league average ERA is 5.52. In MLB it's almost exactly a run lower. In that vein, Crowe's about where a guy would be with a 5.75 after 9 starts in MLB, variance-wise. It's not good, but it's not panic-worthy either. He's 2 years younger than Fedde and so far seems to be on a broadly similar development path (sans the mistake of bringing him up too early). That's also not great, but there are worse outcomes.
