"If that guy was on our side," Harper said, "that wouldn't have happened."  Talk about throwing your GM and catchers under the bus, and also ignoring your own role in this situation....wow.

freaking awful.

JT's hit beat us, if JT were on our team he wouldn't have beaten us.

Shoulda pulled the trigger on the JT/Castro package early in the Spring. Even if Robles was part of it. I'm thinking we'd be in first place in the NL East today and be a legit playoff contender if we had. Of course, hindsight is 20/20 and Rizzo had no way of knowing how good Soto would be, how long Murphy would be out, that Bryce would be hitting .220 or lower, or that our catchers would be so weak.

Not only that, but it ignores the fact that with the bases loaded and no outs, Miami was going to win no matter who was coming up to bat.

Conveniently forgets that he didn't have a hit.

Like I said, we trade this guy, we win the division. He's become a clubhouse problem and an empty hole in the lineup.

Harper has never driven in 100 runs. He hits 450 foot solo home runs, once a week, and otherwise strikes out or walks. Maybe OPS does not reveal quite as much.

this team cannot be a contender this year if Bryce is still on the team.  That was an incredibly prima donna / poison thing to say from a supposed leader.  This almost seems like he's begging to be traded.  Either that, or he thinks he's now Ted Lerner's 4th kid and is plotting to off Mark.

That's a possibility.

He'll also have to rub off PANatsFan?

I was thinking exactly the same thing ...

But he's been saying stupid things since his second year.  Wants to play center field (when we had Span) ..., where's my ring .... make baseball fun .... I can't even think of them all.  Now this.   But that's not what I was thinking. I don't think the lineup can compensate for his two-three strikeout per game performance, particularly with him batting 2, 3, or 4.

Good to see Harper pull up short on that ball, we don't want him getting hurt one game before the trade deadline.

I don't think it was lack of effort, he took a bad route.

Brutal...

Wonder how many guys are going to clear the bench next time he gets plunked. Wieters probably doesn't.

If we're all lucky, this is his last game as a Nat...and I don't say that with any sense of glee or satisfaction...just a fact...

Get him out of the clubhouse, please. Kid has had a sense of entitlement since he was 16, a leopard doesn't change his spots.

No we wouldn't. This team's issues go far beyond the catcher position.

Management would try to re-sign Harper only to put the casual fan in the seats  -- not to win.  Which is more important to those guys?

Putting fans in the seats and planted in front of MASN.   It's a business.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see mark Lerner sign Harper on his own.

Nothing Mark Lerner does would shock me too much, but I hope not. Three of five seasons have been duds and he acts like he's better than his teammates. Cut this bum loose.
