What an ass hole. He said he'd do the Derby at Nats Park, do the damn Derby at Nats Park. Why jerk MLB and the team around? I'm sure that Boras will get his client in line, but if Harper does burn the Lerners on this he's gone in August.
I agree.  It's like Matt Williams never doing the stupid Babe Ruth imitation after promising to do so.  Standard decision.  Get over yourself.

Maybe it's his way of admitting that he's embarrassed about his play this year and because of that he may not even be selected to be on the AS team so why commit to the HR derby?

Max

Definite oversight (Max), as was Murphy. As to Morse, my recollection is he was a very clutch hitter here for awhile. Maybe I'm wrong. Mind does play tricks.

Harper is 3rd in the NL in OPS, he'll be voted in as a starter, but even if he wasn't he'd get picked on merit.

And the only way that Rendon is getting into the AS game or the HR derby is if he buys a ticket.   :metal:

Who'd you rather have up in a clutch situation based on their play here in DC? Harper, Dunn or LaRoche? Okay, add in Morse and Soriano too.
Espinosa.

I agree, what a farce it would be, Harper in the homerun derby.  No way he won't be on the roster though.

Where is FP when we need him to tell us that Bryce is only one week away from hitting .270?

I think Morse was just about as positive on Bryce, if not in so many words.

.221 average. Bryce's a lot closer to hitting .200 than .270. And what's so great about .270?

Castro and Realmuto could bat 3 and 4 in our current lineup and they'd be a big improvement.

Except there is no way we're trading for Castro, just to bench him in a couple of weeks.

You have more faith in Murph's "recovery" than I do.

A .709 OPS with crap defense isnt going to magically save this team

This raises an interesting question. When he drops below .200, is he still guaranteed a spot in the lineup?

Yes, he is guaranteed a spot. He deserves a spot if he's top 5 in OPS for outfielders or top of the league in home runs.

They also said he lost the feeling in the toe and that he couldn’t put weight on it directly after the HBP. It was enough to send him for X-rays.  if you can’t feel your toe, you’re an idiot if you try to continue putting weight on it.

It's not unusual to see foul balls hit off hitters legs, ankles, feet or toes several times a game. And if they are seriously injured of coarse they should leave the game. But when you see a player take himself out of a game after a foul ball before the trainer can even reach him and then is walking around in the clubhouse a half hour later saying no problem he is fine then what you have is a Quitter.
Through July 25, 2017 Harper had been ejected 10 times. Of the 10 ejections 8 of them happened in late innings when he was unlikely to get another at bat. How convenient. He also blamed getting thrown out of one game on listening to music by Logic and Chance the Rapper.
And for all the people that say Bryce can't hit his weight this year they are wrong. He is hitting his weight.
I can't wait to see him crying after he sees the record setting contract he has been talking about has Manny Machado's signature on the bottom.

Only reason Castro was mentioned is reportedly Marlins want to package Castro with Realmuto. As for defense, don't see Castro as weaker defensively than Murphy.

But hes no where near his bat.

Marlins can want whatever they want. We're not taking Castro

then it is going to cost more than the nats will pay.  no robles, no soto, no deal unless we take on Castro.

Base loaded in the 8th. Our 300 million dollar man comes up and hits a lazy fly.

Shades of last year's playoffs.

He is so un-clutch it's not even funny
