Did Bryce really say that? Incredibly unprofessional. You want $400 million, it should come with the expectation of good leadership. Not a good leader doing that.
Exactly.  It's never a good look to put down those that aren't as good as you are.

The full quote, which is in Jorge Castillo’s article today in WaPo:

Quote
A little later, Harper was asked about the seemingly impending return of Rendon and Murphy. He offered an unfiltered opinion.

“It’s huge,” Harper said before the Nationals’ 12-4 win. “I don’t even know our record. What is it?”

A reporter informed Harper it was 13-16.

“We’re 13-16 with the Syracuse SkyChiefs,” Harper said. “So we’re doing a good job staying at .500 the best we can. Once we get our lineup back, we can get out there and do some damage and do the things we can as a team to have some fun and win some ballgames. Rendon and Murph, they’re huge assets to this team. Eaton as well. Once we get those three guys back, we can hopefully hit the ground running and do the things we can to get going.”

Honestly that does sound a lot less awful.

It does sound less awful. He shouldn’t have said it like that.

He should take more accountability. Isn't he hitting like .250?

With a .459 obp- with this lineup he’s getting thrown junk because opponents would rather take their chances with the rest of the lineup

No doubt. I don't put it on Harper. He hasn't played all of 2 innings so far this season.

But there are ways to say things. He didn't say it well imo

Yeah, agree. The guys up from AAA, I can't imagine that they will think highly of Harper for that quote. He's not wrong, but it comes off as arrogant to a few guys that may be at the peak of their careers.

Not opportune for Harper to say but he is frustrated and wants to win. He is naging just like the rest of us with " half " the Chiefs roster playing here. Sanchez, Stevenson, Bautista, Sierra , Suero, Adams , Reynolds , Torres and guys who are clearly AAAA that have been DFA'ed ( Romero , Cole , Montero )

And many of these guys are developing and need AB's. It's not that Robles for example couldn't have made a big league roster and contributed. But as a 4th outfielder slows progress. He needed to play everyday.

Stevenson needs to play everyday to develop. 1 PH every 2 games isn't good for him.

I imagine those called up have a lot of emotions and nerves. Harper's comment can't feel good for guys trying to adjust and focus. Unnecessary.

Started as the Chiefs, became the SkyChiefs, and are now the Chiefs again. They use a train logo, but the original name was a reference to the local (Syracuse) indians.

Third hand gossip actually is that he does want to stay. I trust the source (someone who is close to someone who works for Boras).

I've always thought he wanted to stay, I think he wants to be the best Nationals player for all time.

Shouldnt surprise many considering he said as much prior to going dark on the subject.

That's fifth hand counting you, but I trust you, so fourth hand.

Except that Boras probably had his minion "leak" the info to a known Nats fan in order to get word out around the league that Harper wants to stay in DC. Smart, this will drive up the price.

That’s actually a good point and pretty likely.

"Anytime you lose all-star players, plural, it hurts the team's chances to win. no getting around it. and we've struggled to get going without them. but Moises has had some big moments, Andrew just had a 4-hit game, everyone is playing their hardest, and so am i, so we can be in a spot to make a run when the big guns get back"

that's all he had to say

Agree with everything he said

Honestly, at this point, Bryce could go into the club house, take a giant crap on the floor and sling his feces at evey under-performing player on the team, and I wouldn't care.
