It doesn't seem like any other contender is pressing to acquire a top-level catcher like Realmuto. The Marlins aren't going to benefit keeping him hostage through their rebuild. It's already came out that he'd like a trade. He's not demanding it, but he's politely asked.
We've signed Montero, which just signals that we're moving on with Wieters/Montero/Severino. The Marlins will continue to hold out for Robles/Soto, but I don't think we blink. Around the start of camp, they will finally give in and take a prospect package of the "best of the rest." I think Realmuto is our starting catcher on Opening Day in Cincy. I think Wieters becomes a highly-priced backup, but we won't give Realmuto a crazy workload since we can afford to rest him. There's no urgency to have him carry us to the NL East title, and Wieters is paid well and capable of going out there to take some of the burden. Montero is released and Severino is in AAA.
