Realmuto would be an awesome pickup.  It upgrades catcher this year, but with 3 years of control, he'd also solve our catcher issue we're going to face for 2019 and 2020.

I'm trying to watch Chris Russo on MLB. How does anyone watch that guy? They could just get a random guy on the NYC subway and he would sound better.

I used to listen to Mike and the Mad Dog in NYC, their rants were fun, but more fund were the callers who took 'who starts at 2B for the Mets in 2009" as a life or death decision.

He's easier to listen to than to look at.

Impossible to listen to. Dude just screams at the camera. I don't get his appeal.

Adrian Gonzalez is officially a free agent now.  He'd make a great Adam Lind, but I imagine he'll get an offer from an AL club that will allow him to DH and play 1B.

His back supposedly is so bad he might only DH.

Any word on Lind and someone posted that Albers was about to be signed?

Compared to local sports talkers he's on Mt. Olympus. Not the guy if you want the same old trite platitudes spouted by 99% of the profession.

I hate trite platitudes as much as the next guy, but I certainly don’t want it replaced with nonsense. Which is what Russo spouts much of the time. In literally the most annoying way possible.

You can go to the bar and hear someone loud and obnoxious if that's what you want.

If he's already injured, then he'll fit right in with the Mets.

My son used to listen to Mike & the Mad Dog on WFAN. They were howling nuts. The callers were teen-agers, like my son, but they each called with a six player for eight player trade that "the Yankees have got to make, don't they Dog?"

Don Imus was one of the last non-sports-talkers on WNBC as it switched to become WFAN. He ended one of his last shows: "Chris Russo is an idiot".

Nats sign Tommy Milone to a minor league contract with a ST invite.  Milone hit the first pitch he ever saw as a pro over the wall for his first (and probably his only) career HR.

Why not? What's the harm.

I would have rather had him starting game 5 of the NLDS than gio.

I would say no harm, if there were even the slightest chance of success.  There's zero chance.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Nationals "continue to express interest" in free agent first baseman Matt Adams.

Crasnick says the Nats are viewing him as a lefty bench bat who could reprise Adam Lind's role from last season. Adams was non-tendered by the Braves on December 1 after batting .274/.319/.522 with 20 home runs and 65 RBI in 131 games between Atlanta and St. Louis in 2017. He had an .896 OPS versus right-handed pitching. There's also said to be interest from the Indians and Royals.

I tend to view spring training invites like this as favors to the player. There is zero downside to the team letting him have a chance

Can also be considered a favor to the player's agent, although I wasn't able to figure out who Milone's agent is (tbh didn't try too hard).
