Jeez. Massive salary dump by the Dodgers. Also clearing out space where they need it. They're now slater to be under the luxury tax thresholdWhy is Atlanta doing this? They can't possibly think Gonzo is gonna have a good year and then trade him
To get out of Kemp’s contract. they’ll probably release AGon.
Why is Atlanta doing this?
Why is LA doing this? Why would they want that piece of trash back?
They are dumping Kemp. It's all about getting under the luxury tax threshold.
And the Dodgers will end up either flipping Kemp to the AL or will release him altogether.
Release him? They've taken on his contract. Release him and eat the $21+M? Doesn't make sense.
it makes sense given they are just trying to reduce payroll to come under the luxury tax. Kemp is what, a .4 WAR player right now? It's arguably better to pay him to not play than to have him on the roster.
Looks like Werth crashed Winterfest today...(Image removed from quote.)
I was hoping to add another big bat (even if it means MAT starts as the 4th OF or is traded) but I don't think that's going to happen at this point. Or a #3 starter.
According to Craig Mish of Sirius XM, J.T. Realmuto has requested a trade from the Marlins. The Marlins have already sold off a number of high-profile pieces and Realmuto would presumably prefer to go to a place where he has a better chance to win. Requesting a trade doesn't mean it will happen, but it could be the best outcome for both parties. Realmuto turns 27 in March and is under team control for three more seasons, so he could bring back an impressive haul. As opposed to some of the other deals, a trade involving Realmuto would be about bringing back top prospects rather than shedding salary. Realmuto batted .278/.332/.451 with 17 homers, 65 RBI, and eight steals over 141 games this past season.
