Werth back on a one year deal?
Please no. Need guys on the bench who can play defense. And who will not top down Davey's lineup card. I keep hearing how great he has been for the clubhouse but all we have to show are four playoff losses. Time to move on.

Perfect. Werth can start in LF. Taylor can be a bench bat.

Yes. He has that very cool beard and a big dog. Should attract more ladies to the park.

Under a new manager, Werth might actually get played in that bench role. I'm not completely against him coming back on a one year deal if it's back as a 4th OF situation and he's actually used that way.

Because you'd trust the guy who asked a manager when he lost the clubhouse to accept a bench role without becoming a clubhouse cancer?

Goodwin alone should get us Machado and Davis.

Anyway, is there any chance the Nats are trying to buy out Wieters? Like 4 million this year and 2 million next? Gotta think he could find a one year deal for ~4 million

He’s a capable backup. Why pay him to not play?

That's where Rizzo and Martinez have to set the expectation of what his role will be.

Probably not. So what. There is no guarantee Robles will be a star.

Robles will be a star.

Go Nats!

Not just no.  Hell no!

His only option is the Nationals. No other team in MLB wants Werth near their clubhouse. Kaepernick has a better chance of employment in 2018.

Go Nats!

Because it's a lot of money to pay a backup catcher.

Nevermind, he's coming back: https://mobile.twitter.com/chelsea_janes/status/926927346929754114

Severino / Wieters 60 / 40

Nats have to pay Wieters. Don't have to play Wieters.

Why do people think Severino is any better than Wieters? Defensively sure, but I think Wieters calls a really good game. Neither can hit though, and from what we have seen in the minors, Severino isn't some outstanding batter. Maybe Long can help unlock something in Wieters to make him at least slightly below average. Not sure Severino ever profiles as more than a back up with that bat.

Severino is defensively better. Calling a game is, frankly, not as hard as it's made out to be. Particularly with this rotation.

Werth back on a one year deal?
Goodwin is the fourth out fielder and I would rather have Difo getting some outfield bats than Werth. I would even prefer Stevenson and Bautista since they're better in the field and on the bases.

Werth has value somewhere as a backup but not here.

I think Kaepernick would have a good chance of getting a job selling insurance.  A better chance than Werth. Werth, on the other hand, probably is better at algorithms, so it's a toss up.

Yes, unless you trade Goodwin Werth doesn't make a lot of sense

Signing Werth makes no sense.  Period.  He is done...

MLBTR says we are a logical trade partner with Miami for Ozuna.

Except for being in the same division. Ozuna gonna cost a lot and, frankly, I think he overachieved this season.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan either.

Remember, he was just sent down last year for awhile because he was struggling.
