how much longer can you count on a terrible division? Likely another year, but eventually prospects mature and both the Phillies and Braves have strong farms

The Phillies are very close to be good and the Braves not far behind like you said.  The Phillies sort of remind me of the Cubs a few years back, and are a few free agent signings filling in holes away (they added Carlos Santana today).  Even the Mets, if they can get their pitching staff healthy, are a threat to make some moves and become much, much better.  Last year was as easy as it will get.  The Phils may still be another year off and the Braves another year or 2, but they are coming.
