Why would any team trading for Machado, expecting him to be a free agent the following season, care where he wants to play?
Maybe if they have a SS but not 3B they would care? Just a thought.

Word is the Cards were the favorites to land a trade for Ozuna but a mystery team has put in a new bid. Everytime in the past we are always said be "mystery team" at the end.

I feel like "interested" is code for "kicked the tires on"

Rosenthal said that Martinez is interested in Davis because of Cubs connection.

Should the Nats go after Lucroy? He’s not great defensively, but he’s an offensive upgrade and might no cost that much.

I thought the Yankees deal yesterday with Padres might be the type of deal the Nats could try to pull for Wieters and maybe Blanton.  The NYY needed to drop salary, so they sent Brian Mitchell along with Chase Headley to the Padres for a long shot outfielder who may not make the NYY.  This deal allowed them to drop Headley's $12MM for next year off the books. I wonder what sort of wrapper we'd need to put around Wieters in order to get a team like the White Sox or Tigers (rebuilding, looking for prospects) to take on Wieters's  contract?

Did Wieters negotiate a no trade?

we only had a one-year deal on Blanton so he, at least, is not our problem any more.

Also, his deferred contract has nothing to do with Luxury Tax concerns.

Reports are that the Indians and Cubs are looking at a Salazar trade. That would suck if it comes to fruition.

yes, it looks like Kelley is the only other piece of deadwood, and no one is taking him hurt off our hands.

Mets sign Anthony Swarzak to a 2 year deal, he would have been a nice Kinzler replacement for us.

I am hoping that last year was an abnormality because of injuries and that Kelly returns to form as one of the league's best relievers.

seems we're missing out on the run on relievers.  Heyman says the Rockies are close to extending Holland.

I feel very good about Doo and Madsen in the back end.  We'd be in good shape if one of Kelly and Glover can stay healthy and return to top form.  If both did, then what a bonus.

Not too worried. With Madson and Doolittle and maybe some bounce backs from other arms, we should be set in the pen.

Plus we've shown a couple years in a row there is help to be had deadline.

Are the Marlins selling everyone?

The division is going to be handed to the Nats. Again. Phillies and Braves are far away, but the Marlins must be thinking they won't be able to catch the Nats this season so may as well try again next offseason.

It'll be fun for us playing them.  I expect the Mets, Braves, and Phils to all be at least a little better, so the depletion of the Fish will offset that.

I wonder if the Nats could get Realmuto and absorb Ziegler's salary as well to lessen the prospect cost?
