I'm not sure MAT is that attractive to the Marlins.  He's not controlled long enough for their full rebuild, and he's already entering his prime years.  They would seemingly be hoping he continues last year's breakout and then could be flipped for better prospects than we can currently offer in place of him.  He'd be more of an asset to trade ala Castro.
Still gotta put a team on the field. Might let them not rush a prospect faster than they want to.
