Not good ones lol but Jansen has been over-used and the cracks are starting to show; middle innings relief for the Dodgers has been a sore spot since their long late-season losing streak; and the Astros are ridiculous hitters who will exploit the tiniest mistake. Plus the Astros bullpen is really terrible.
I had Jose Leclerc on my fantasy team for much of the year thinking he would take over the closer spot.  Unfortunately, he reverted to being Jose Leclerc.  I don't even think he's on their roster.  Giles is Treinen as a Nats closer.  completely messes up the rest of the bullpen when the guy you count on can't be counted on.

What a crazy game. It was like the pitchers all wore out simultaneously. Smoltz noted that even just a mile or two an hour off the fastball can be the difference.

I bet both sides wish they had stayed with the starters a bit more. Of course both could probably pitch briefly now in game 7. Ala Max in game 5!

I am glad I stayed up for that one, although it’s super painful this morning. I need a rest day almost as much as the players.

I'm just waiting for Giles to come down with an "injury" so they can put  Clippard or someone in his spot.  Giles is broken now. Can't give him the ball unless the Astros have a 43 run lead.

So which position player is gonna pitch first?

Very disappointed that this did not happen last night. But I guess everyone else was pitching like a position player.

Agreed. Figuring out how to play 9 in under 5 hours would be a great place to start.

Something has to be done about this. At least start the games earlier.  A 10-inning game that lasts 5 1/2 hours is beyond ridiculous.

i can't decide if this is the greatest WS ever, or the worst.  It has elements of both.   Last night was just an odd spectacle.

not having games on back-to-back nights might help as it would give pitchers more time to rest.  7 games in 9 days seems a bit much.

MLB should have the games on the weekend start at 5 PM eastern on TBS.  Fox would not be happy due to NFL, but that sort of timing would put hours 2 - 3.5 between 7  PM and 8:30, which is in the gap between the 4 PM football games and the Sunday night game.  That would get the normal end game before viewers and could even hook them in if the game goes extras.

I agree starting them earlier would be ideal but last night's game kicked the NFL's booty:

didn't SNF always used to win that battle?? I know last year it won also but I assumed that was due to the Cubbies being in it.

worth a read: https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-absurdity-and-insanity-of-game-5-and-of-the-astros/

Houston only swung and missed at 13 pitches all night.  That's incredible.

I can't think of a single advantage to living on the east coast from a televised sports perspective.  I DVR those early European footie games and watch them when I wake up anyways.

Come to think of it, I can't think of a single advantage to living on the east coast period.

Density of cities. I can hit Seattle easily and Portland semi-easily. If you’re along the Eastern seaboard you’re a H, S, and a G from like 5 major cities at a minimum.

MLB has announced, in an effort to shorten playoff games, that tonight's contest will begin at 5-5 in the top of the 6th.

Each team will have to designate 3 pitchers as being removed, including the announced starters, a stopper middle reliever, and a LOOGY.

I heard AJ Hinch say he would consider using McCullers tonight rather than saving him to start game 7 if they have a chance to win tonight.  I like that attitude.

How about 3-Run home runs count as negative runs? 1, 2 or 4 run bombs are normal but those three-run taters are brutal for pace of play. So if you have 4 and hit a 3-Run home run, your score goes down to 1 now.  More guys not swinging for the fences with runners on = more ground balls so maybe more double plays.

I asked to start also--but they didn't think I could get to the coast in time.  Max wanted to pitch in game 5 also.
