C&D said tonight, during an injury summary, that the pitcher who used to be Seth Romero is out with a calf-strain. How long should he be on DL?

he's on the 60 day IL since the start of the year.

Quote
LHP Seth Romero (left calf strain)
Expected return: First half of season
Romero was sidelined by a stiff back during Spring Training. On April 7, he was recalled and placed on the 60-day IL because of a left calf strain. A first-round pick in the 2017 MLB Draft by Washington, Romero has appeared in three games on the Major League level, most recently in ‘20. -- Jessica Camerato (Last updated: April 7)

Interesting that there's basically been nothing new since 4/7.

He's playing as "Mason Denaburg" now and laughing his way to the bankdispensary.

Unless Romero's calf was ripped from the bone, this sounds like he has a pulled muscle. Could Romero have done this while staggering drunk as he tried to walk in a straight line for the officers who arrested him for DUI?

Starting at Harrisburg tonight. Skipped right over Fred and Wilmington.

Struck out the side in the first.

Seth is, I'll grant you that. Romero only needs a special character to be an acceptable password.  Romero?  Romero! Romero.  Rom_ero

Activated, assigned to Harrisburg.

Quote
Romero, 26, made three relief appearances during the 2020 season but has struggled to stay healthy and avoid trouble off the field for his career. He suffered a rib injury in 2021 and was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated in January. Even before drafting him, the Nationals had to weigh repeated off-the-field issues from his time at the University of Houston. Martinez still believes that Romero can contribute.

“At this point, it’s up to him,” Martinez said. “As you know, I don’t tolerate a whole lot of things off the field. He’s got to do the right things off the field as well as perform on the field. Only time will tell. He’s still fairly young, which is good. It all just depends on how Seth wants to move forward.”

Just a bit.  I am assuming they will drop him from the 40-man roster if he does not improve quickly?  Or is he still too young?

Why would they? Not like there is a roster crunch

Again, why? He isnt blocking anyone. He's a lefty that throws mid 90s with a plus breaking pitch

Because he is 26. Has a history of arm problems. And off the field problems. And is struggling in Double A where he is two years older than average.

there's no reason to cut him loose at this point. Let him keep pitching this year and see where he's at in training camp next year.

He’s going to block someone.  Whether that someone is any good is another question. Would rather see the spot go to a younger guy.
