I must have missed Feinstein's column after Strasburg was the World Series MVP.

I honestly think JF wants Strasburg to be hurt for the next few years so he can say, "I told you so," like the World Series just didn't happen. Man that guy sucks so much. Good writer though.

He's been in DC too long.  Would rather "win" on some stupid argument that nobody else cares about than have people think he's a decent human.

Romero has made 3 starts so far in Fredricksburg - 9.2 IP, 2.79 ERA, 1.76 WHIP.  2BB, 14Ks, 15H. He's gone four innings each in his last two starts.

Last start: 4IP, 8H, 2ER, 1BB, 6Ks

8 hits, 6 outs by contact.  That looks weird. This is low A, too, after he was pitching in the majors last year.  That he can pile up Ks against that level of competition shouldn't be a surprise.  To me, this doesn't look that dominant.

He’s thrown less than 60 innings since was drafted in 2017.

25+ year old in low A. We can hope he finds himself late, but it's getting late.

That seems less than ideal

Sad Seth Romero started and lost last night for Harrisburg. Pulled in the second inning after giving up 5 runs. But he's back to AA.

We were there last night. He looked fine in the 1st, then fell apart in the 2nd. He was pulled in the middle of an at bat on a 3-2 count, after having given up those 5 runs, including a grand slam. He looked utterly defeated as he walked off the mound. Not sure what has happened to him, but I wonder how long the organization will stick with him.

I think he could be a reliever.  Was he just getting in some work after being out, or is this a pattern this year?

I think he should just move to the pen at this point and see what he can do, because if not he's past done.

No excuse to have him as a starter in A-ball when he can be a MLB reliever now. Clay sucks, get Romero here.

Yeah I definitely think we should try to make him a reliever, but he is definitely not MLB ready yet... To say the least.

How about Donovan Casey? How did he look?

I'm calling him "Sad Seth" because he has such an down expression in his stock photo on the Harrisburg site. There was a Sad Sam who pitched in the 1920s, so there might as well be a Sad Seth today.

As The-Fan-Formerly-Known-As-Smithian has said, the Nats cannot have too many promising minor league pitchers. Maybe he is Happier Seth Romero?

I’m just confused why he’s still being developed as a starter.  He has 31.2 innings in 10 starts this year.  He has exactly 2 starts longer than 4 innings.

My guess is that the organization will develop Sad Seth Romero as a starter until it decides that he finally just can't. He has had all sorts of delays, from bad discipline to injuries. Has only had 24 starts, and more than half were before he had TJS. At the worst, he might develop into a three-pitch reliever.

Is it really all that unusual for relievers to start in the minors until just about right before their call up?  Papelbon, FWIW, was groomed that way.  I guess that's 15 years ago so that model is out of date, but if a pitcher has more than 2 pitches, he need some innings to use and work on all of them.
